About the role

As Technical Project Manager at AQUABATTERY, you are instrumental in ensuring our in-field projects run smoothly and are delivered on-time and in full. You are the linking pin between our R&D, product development team, and commercial team to capture and disseminate the project learnings. You will work from our office, workshop, and lab at Alphen a/d Rijn, and be in the field regularly to coordinate and monitor running (pilot) projects. As a Technical Project Manager, you leverage your expertise to bring running projects to a success and develop and manage next-generation pilots to push our product towards commercialization! You enjoy collaborating with external partners, suppliers, colleagues and other stakeholders like municipalities to jointly work towards the advancement of our revolutionary storage solution.

What you’ll be doing

  • Coordinating and managing technical pilot project delivery of our battery;
  • Operating the projects, and ensuring that technical data from these projects is analysed and visualised in technical reports;
  • Maintenance of the pilots: in times of malfunctioning components ensuring a timely repair of components by working together with suppliers and partners;
  • Monitor and report deliverables, and preparing technical reports and presentations to partners, which includes the European Commission (as funding partner for some of our projects);
  • Delivery of technical milestones as defined in the specific projects;
  • Develop and manage pilot project budgets, schedules and capacity plans in ERP;
  • Report regular project updates to the operations director, and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Coordinate project requirements and changes with Product Development team, and commercial team;
  • Maintaining relations with local authorities with respect to permits, partnerships and other actors;
  • Integrate client-specific scope to ensure seamless integration of AquaBattery pilots at client sites;
  • Manage relationships with AquaBattery manufacturing and engineering partners for the pilot projects with a focus on safety, cost, schedule, and quality;
  • Collaborate with Product Development team to identify and implement design optimizations to enhance future performance and reduce costs;
  • Identify the compliance, regulatory, and certification requirements for pilots and implement them. 

Function requirements:

We expect from you:

  • / MSc. In Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing technical projects.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining in-field pilots or demonstration projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to keep oversight while juggling many different running affairs and stakeholders.
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.  
  • Hands-on and delivery focused mindset.
  • Proficient in English

Considered a plus:

  • Familiarity with (flow) battery technology and its principles.
  • Proficient in Dutch, spoken and written
